Surroundings

Our guesthouse is located neatly between Akureyri, the Capital of the North and amazing lake Mývatn, a natural phoenomenon. There are numerous beautiful waterfalls within a close driving range, Aldeyjarfoss, Ingvararfoss and Hrafnabjargafossar to name a few. They are surrounded by strange and pictoresque rock formations, trap rock and pot holes. Goðafoss waterfall – the waterfall of the Gods – is also close by, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland and has a rich role in Iceland’s history. Barnafoss and Ullarfoss can also be found in Skjálfandi river.

Lake Mývatn and the town Húsavík are just an hours drive from our Guesthouse, in Húsavík you’ll find the Geo Sea baths, the Exploration Museum and the Whale Museum. In Mývatn, the Nature baths and a visit to Sigurgeir’s bird museum, are a must see during your visit.
